My top 5 most-worn pieces of 2021

With fall quickly approaching, we’ll only have a bit longer to go until we reach the end of 2021. It’s crazy how quickly the past seven months have elapsed, almost in the blink of an eye. Although a good chunk of the year was spent in lockdown, I managed to make good use of some of the pieces I picked up throughout the year (or in late 2020). Here are the ones I found myself reaching for time and time again:

H&M Wide High Jeans

I’ve talked about these high-rise wide-leg jeans in my previous post about different types of jeans. They fit really well and are versatile in terms of what you can pair with them. A bonus is that they are also quote comfy as a result of the wider fit around the leg. This style of jean is also very chic at the moment, but the shape is classic enough that you could hold on to it and wear it even after the trend dies down. You really can’t go wrong with adding a pair of these to your collection. If you’re thinking about snatching some up, I’ve linked them below.

H&M Blue Chunky-Knit Cardigan

This cardigan is so cute! After seeing many Instagram influencers posting about it back in the early fall of 2020, I was on a hunt for it. Unfortunately, it ended up selling out quickly. I resorted to searching for dupes, but nothing I saw lived up to the H&M cardigan. After a search that lasted a couple of months, I had forgotten about it, but ended up stumbling upon it in-store at H&M while on an afternoon shopping trip at the end of October. I sure am glad to have found it, because I’ve made quite good use of it thus far. It’s very comfortable and looks amazing; the colour makes it suitable for all seasons. It works well for layering or even just wearing it on its own, tucked into a pair of jeans. If you’re looking to get your hands on a similar style of cardigan, H&M no longer has the blue one available, but they do currently have the same style/fit in a cream and camel colour. Have a look at the link below.

Zara Checkered Blazer

This blazer is a classic piece. I purchased it during the Zara sale last winter, and am definitely happy with it, even more so knowing that I got it on discount. With a subtle pattern comprised of neutral colours, this blazer can be worn to work, paired with some smart trousers, or can even be paired with jeans and sneakers and worn to do some errands on the weekend. A blazer like this is sure worth the investment. Although the Zara one is no longer available, H&M has a very similar one currently in stock.

Dynamite LBD

I’ve worn this little black dress countless times this year. Its versatile nature makes it easy to style and adjust so that it matches any occasion. The sides and back have a slight ruching detail which makes it flattering on any body type. The length hits just a few inches above the knee; it’s short, but not too short, which means it’s appropriate for work as well. You could start the day by wearing it to work with a pair of classy loafers, then switching the shoes out for a pair of sneakers to do a grocery run after work, and finally popping on a pair of heels and grabbing drinks at the end of the night. This exact dress is no longer available in plain black, however Dynamite does currently have the faux leather version of it. They also have a very similar style dress to the original plain black one. Both are linked below.

Dynamite Hounds Tooth Coat

This item doubles as a coat and a blazer. It is warm and thick enough for it to act as a coat during the late fall, but can also be worn as a blazer during the winter time. The colour makes it easy to pair with a variety of different bottoms, dresses or jumpsuits. If you decide to invest in a similar piece, and your style is similar to my own, you will find yourself reaching for this coat very often, especially to wear to work. Unfortunately, Dynamite no longer has this exact coat in stock; however, I found a very similar one at H&M.

What pieces from your closet have you worn over and over in 2021? Were they more staple/basic pieces or did you have a statement piece you really enjoyed? Let me know in the comments. Can't wait to chat!
